Tips to Get Through The Rough Patches

Five tips to get you through the tough days/weeks:

1. Take a step back and breathe. Deep inhale through your nose and exhale through your mouth. Put your hand on your heart. Take a moment to breathe and relax.

2. Write down 2-3 things you are grateful for each day. Look through your list at the end of the week. There are so many things to be thankful for, and positive about, when life gets crazy and drags you down. Let this list be a reminder of those things.

3. Be kind to yourself, and give yourself some grace. Allow yourself some down time. Allow yourself some tears (and/or screams) if necessary. Know that the tough days will pass. Know that perfection is not realistic. Know that you are doing your best and you’re giving all you can give. Know that you are enough.

4. Take it day by day. Don’t put the weight of the world on YOUR shoulders. Focus on the little things you can do each day to make progress on your to-do list. Maybe it’s just one thing you get done, but it’s one small step on the way to the big things.

5. Make time for yourself. If it’s 5 min alone in the shower, or a 5 min meditation after you put the kids to bed... take it. Like a computer with a million tabs and windows open that freezes up, sometimes you need a little reboot yourself. Don’t keep hitting all the buttons on the keyboard & hope something magically works again. Hit the restart button and take a minute to reset.
